Background/History of Project:
The Wheelchair Foundation was founded in 2000 by by real estate developer Ken Behring, and based in Danville, California. It is a 501(c3) Foundation with a goal to provide a free wheelchair to every child, teen and adult who needs one but has no means to acquire one. Rotary Clubs world-wide partner with The Wheelchair Foundation to bring their mission to the world.
Overview:
The Chatham Rotary Club donates to this worthy program. Each year the Wheelchair Foundation awards a matching District grant to provide wheelchairs for those in need. Fundraising efforts and club donations enable the goal of filling at least 1 container (280 wheelchairs) each year for those in need.
