PROJECT OVERVIEW

For some of the kids and teenagers growing up in Danville, basketball is a universal language. The founder of the Danville "Hoop Don't Shoot", Angela Dixon saw a way to get through to the young people through something they love: basketball.  This program gives kids a fun, safe place to be, and a reason to say no to gangs, to drugs and various other entities trying to encourage them onto the wrong path.  The program, started in 2017, has had great success and has now partnered with The Danville Church-Based Tutorial Program to help influence the youth in other areas.

IMPACT STATEMENT

Helping Community. That's a mission of the Chatham Rotary Club.  Recognizing the need for such a program, we were happy to make a donation to the success of this program.  The program is literally saving lives, encouraging education, and community interaction.
