Hometown Heroes

4th of July Celebration

Our Tribute to Their Service

As part of the community July 4th celebration for 2022, the Chatham Rotary Club will establish a "Tribute Field" to honor our Hometown Heroes. This Tribute Field will be located beside U.S. HIGHWAY 29 immediately south of the Old Dominion Agricultural Center (ODAC) and will feature an array of approximately 300 American flags. The field is scheduled to be in place by June 25 and remain standing until July 16. A dedication of the field will be held at the site on Saturday, July 2 at 10 am.

The field is a good way to celebrate the holiday by recognizing and individual or group that has been of service the nation, state, local community or to you personally. You may recognize your own personal Hometown Hero by sponsoring a flag for a donation of just $40. Examples may include veterans, public servants, volunteer organizations like Fire and Rescue, teachers, friends, family, or the like. Donors will be recognized by cards indicating the donor and individual or group recognized. Cards will be attached to each flag sponsored and remain in place for the duration of the field. Proceeds from sponsored flags go to support numerous public service projects supported and executed by the Chatham Rotary Club.

Please consider a donated flag to recognize your personal Hometown Hero while supporting the valuable work of your local Rotary Club.

Making your Flag Dedication is a two-step process.  First, purchase a flag that will be flown in the Rotary Hometown Heroes Tribute Field, and secondly, after the payment is made, dedicate the flag to confirm who is sponsoring the flag and who it is in honor or memory of.

The Chatham Rotary Club is proud of the relationship we have with our community.  Our success as a club is due, not only to the strength and dedication of our members, but certainly also to the generous support of our community sponsors.  These sponsors help us achieve our goals for the community and more.  Please take a moment to visit our Sponsors Page, where you may also follow links to their websites.
